Privacy policy
Last updated October 28, 2026 · Covers MoneyPulse for iPhone and this website
MoneyPulse is a personal budgeting app built so your financial information stays on your phone. This policy explains what the app does with data, the little that leaves your phone, and how to delete it.
In short
- Your transactions, statements, receipts, budgets, goals, trips and settings are stored only on your iPhone.
- No ads, no tracking across apps or websites, and we never sell or share your data.
- The app sends anonymous crash reports and usage statistics (which features are used, never your data). You can turn both off.
- Signing in is optional. If you sign in, your name, email address and an account ID are stored with Google Firebase.
- Only trips you choose to share are stored online, so the people you invite can see them.
- You can delete your account and shared-trip data in the app at any time: Settings › Account › Delete account.
Data stored on your iPhone
Everything you enter or import is saved in the app’s private storage on your iPhone. Bank statements (PDF, photo or CSV) and receipt photos are read on your device, text recognition included, and are never uploaded. MoneyPulse doesn’t sync your personal data to any cloud. Deleting the app, or Settings › Delete all data, removes it.
Signing in (optional)
You can sign in with Apple or Google. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication, which stores your name, email address and a random account ID, plus which provider you used and when you last signed in. If you use Apple’s Hide My Email, we only receive Apple’s relay address. Like any online service, Firebase may log technical details such as your IP address to keep the service secure. Your financial data is never attached to your account.
Deleting your account and shared data
In the app, go to Settings › Account › Delete account. This:
- removes every shared trip you organize, with its expenses and settle-ups, for all members;
- removes you from shared trips you joined (expenses you added there stay, so the other members’ totals stay correct);
- deletes your display name and your sign-in account (name, email, account ID), and revokes MoneyPulse’s Sign in with Apple access.
Data on your iPhone isn’t affected. If you can’t use the app, email us and we’ll delete your account within 30 days. See the account deletion page for details.
Crash reports and usage statistics
To find bugs and see which features are used, the app sends two kinds of anonymous diagnostics. Both are on by default and can be turned off in Settings › Privacy & security (Share crash reports and Share usage statistics).
| What | Details |
|---|---|
| Crash reports (Google Firebase Crashlytics) | When the app crashes, hangs or hits a serious error: the app version, device model, iOS version, the technical stack trace and an error code, with a random installation ID. Never your transactions, amounts, descriptions, file names, name or email, and not linked to your sign-in account. |
| Usage statistics (TelemetryDeck) | Counts of which features are used (for example “receipt scanned” or “budget created”), screens opened, whether you’re on the free plan, the trial or Pro, and device details such as iOS version, language, region setting and light or dark mode. Events only ever carry fixed labels from the app, never amounts, merchants, categories, notes or anything you type. TelemetryDeck receives a one-way hashed ID made on your iPhone, not your name, email or IP address. |
Neither is used for advertising or to track you across other apps or websites.
Other internet use
- Trip cover photos: when you search for a cover photo online, the place you search for (for example “Lisbon”) is sent to Wikipedia (Wikimedia Foundation) and the photo you pick is downloaded. Wikimedia’s privacy policy applies.
- Voice entry: speech is recognized on your device where possible. On some devices, Apple’s speech service may process the audio; MoneyPulse never stores it or sends it to us.
Backups
Backup and export files are created only when you ask, or on the schedule you choose, and saved where you pick (for example on your iPhone or in iCloud Drive). You control those files.
Purchases
MoneyPulse Pro subscriptions are sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details. The app only asks the App Store whether your subscription is active. The 90-day free trial is tracked on your iPhone.
Permissions
- Notifications: budget alerts and bill reminders, if you turn them on.
- Face ID: the optional app lock. Biometric data stays with iOS.
- Camera and photos: scanning receipts and statements, and trip cover photos, only when you choose to.
- Microphone and speech recognition: voice entry, only while you’re using it.
Service providers and where data is processed
Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) stores the account and shared-trip data described above, Firebase Crashlytics receives crash reports, and Firebase App Check confirms that requests come from the genuine app (firebase.google.com/support/privacy). Shared trips are stored in Montréal, Canada; sign-in and crash reports run on Google’s global infrastructure and may be processed outside Canada, including in the United States. TelemetryDeck, a company based in Germany, receives the anonymous usage statistics (telemetrydeck.com/privacy). Apple provides sign-in and in-app purchases under its own privacy policy.
This website
Cloudflare hosts moneypulse.ca. The site doesn’t use cookies or advertising trackers. To count visits, it uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn’t use cookies, store anything on your device or follow you to other sites. It records the page you visit, the site that sent you, your browser and device type, and your country. Like any website, Cloudflare also processes standard request details, such as your IP address, to deliver pages and keep the site secure. When the App Store badge is shown, it’s loaded from Apple.
If you ask to be told when MoneyPulse launches, we keep your email address, your language and the date you signed up, stored with Cloudflare. We use them only to send you one email when the app is on the App Store, then delete them. To be removed sooner, email moneypulse.support@gmail.com.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw your consent, by emailing us. Because almost everything stays on your iPhone, we usually hold only your sign-in details and any shared trips. If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information.
Children
MoneyPulse is not directed at children under 13 and doesn’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
